Staff and missionaries
On this page
Your pastors, leaders and staff are on one screen. The missionaries and ministries your church supports are on another. They are kept apart on purpose, so the people you support do not look like your employees.
Anyone on the team can add and edit people on both screens. Only Managers and Owners can delete them.
Both screens work the same way. Saving a person puts the change on your website at once, because these screens have no draft. They also have no version history, so an edit replaces the old words.
Staff Link to this section: Staff
Open Staff in the left menu, under Content. The list shows each person's Name, Role, Group and a pair of up and down buttons for Order on the page.
Adding a person Link to this section: Adding a person
- Press Add a person.
- Fill in the form. Name is the only required box.
- Role or title is what you want shown, such as Pastor.
- Group says which list they are in. "Staff" is the usual one. You can type another, such as Elders or Deacons, and show that group on its own with the Staff block (see Blocks).
- Photo (optional): press Choose from your pictures, or paste the address of a photo that is already online. Clear the box to show no photo.
- About is a short bio. Leave a blank line between paragraphs.
- A live preview on the right shows the person as visitors will see them.
- Press Save.
Changing the order Link to this section: Changing the order
Press the up or down arrow beside a name to move that person. The order on the screen is the order on your website.
Editing and deleting Link to this section: Editing and deleting
Press a person's name to edit them. The three-dot button beside each row has Edit and, for Managers and Owners, Delete. Delete asks "Remove this person from the staff list?" first.
Showing your team on a page Link to this section: Showing your team on a page
Add the Staff block to any page. It shows people in this order. The ready-made About page starter includes one. If your menu has an Our Team entry, it opens the built-in team page.
Missionaries Link to this section: Missionaries
Open Missionaries in the left menu, under Content. If your church has turned the Missionaries module off, this item is missing (see Modules). Turning it on again brings everything back.
The list shows Name, Where they serve, Region, On the site and the order buttons. A badge at the top counts any that are hidden.
Adding a missionary Link to this section: Adding a missionary
- Press Add a missionary.
- Fill in the form.
- Name can be a person, a couple, or a line of your own, such as a ministry's name.
- Where they serve is a country, a region or a role.
- Page address (optional) is the end of the address of their own page. Leave it empty and it is made from the name. It stays the same when you change the name; change it here if you want a different one. It uses lowercase letters, digits and hyphens, and two missionaries cannot share one.
- Region (optional) is used when the block groups missionaries by region.
- Sending organization (optional).
- Photo (optional) must be a picture already in your library. Use Choose from your pictures.
- About (optional) is a note, a prayer need or a news line.
- Link (optional) can be a website (https://), an email (mailto:you@example.org) or a phone number (tel:+15555550123).
- Show on the site: untick it to keep the entry here without showing it to visitors.
- Press Save.
Once a missionary is saved and showing, a View page button on the form opens their own page in a new tab.
Their own page Link to this section: Their own page
Every missionary who is showing has a page at your site's address followed by /missionaries/ and their page address. It shows their name, where they serve, the sending organization, the photo, the note and the link, with a way back to all missionaries and to the previous and next ones. A hidden missionary has no page: visitors see the usual "page not found".
Showing and hiding Link to this section: Showing and hiding
On the list, the Hide or Show button beside a missionary changes whether visitors see them. A hidden missionary shows the badge Hidden. A shown one shows Showing. Use it for someone who is on furlough, or whose support has ended, without losing their information.
Showing missionaries on a page Link to this section: Showing missionaries on a page
Add the Missionaries block to a page, such as a page called Missions. The block can group people by region. A missionary who has a photo, a note, a link or a sending organization gets a card that opens their own page. One with only a name and a place stays a plain card, with nothing to click. The "Back to all missionaries" link on their pages goes to the page that holds this block, or to your home page if no page does. Their pages are also listed for search engines when they have something to show.
Missionaries do not have their own sign-in, and none is planned. Your staff keep their entries up to date.
