Modules

On this page

A module is an optional part of your site. Right now there are three: Embeds, Missionaries and Video. A church can turn each one on or off.

Only Managers and Owners can open Modules. It is under Church in the left menu.

The screen says "Optional parts of your site." Each module has a card with its name, a one-line description, and a status:

  • On: it works, and its screens and blocks are there.
  • Off: you turned it off.
  • Not in your plan: your church's plan does not include it. At present no module is priced, so you should not see this.
  • Needs another module: it depends on one that is off. Turn that one on first.

A card for a module that is on has a link that begins with Open for each of its screens, such as "Open Videos".

  • Embeds: show a video, map, giving form or sermon archive from another site inside a page, from sites your church allows. It adds the Embeds screen and the Embedded content block.
  • Missionaries: the missionaries and ministries your church supports, shown with the Missionaries block. It adds the Missionaries screen.
  • Video: video link cards, and hosted video you upload yourself, with captions. It adds the Videos screen, and the Video and Hosted video blocks.

All three are on for every church to begin with.

Turning a module off Link to this section: Turning a module off

Press Turn off on its card. A box opens that says what will change in plain words:

  • Its screen disappears from the left menu.
  • Its blocks leave the Add panel.
  • On your pages, its blocks show nothing to visitors.
  • It tells you how many published pages use it and will go blank there.

Then it says: "Nothing is deleted. Everything you added stays saved, and it all comes back the moment you turn it on again." Press the red Yes, turn off button to confirm.

A page that already has one of its blocks can still be saved. The editor shows a placeholder there, and a note that the block shows nothing right now.

Press Turn on. Everything returns, with everything you had saved.

Why you might turn one off Link to this section: Why you might turn one off

  • You do not use missionaries, and you want a simpler menu.
  • You want to be sure no page loads anything from another site (turn off Embeds).

If you are not sure, leave them on. Turning one off never loses data. The one thing that does remove data is closing the whole site, which deletes every module's data whether it is on or off.
