The site-wide sidebar
Some pages have a column down one side with extra blocks in it, such as your service times, an upcoming events list or a button. That column is the sidebar. A page chooses a layout with a sidebar on the left or the right (see Editing pages). Then it uses one of three sidebars.
- The site-wide sidebar, the same on every page that uses it.
- Its own sidebar, with blocks only that page has.
- No sidebar.
Managers and Owners edit the site-wide sidebar. Editors choose which of the three a page uses, and they can fill in a page's own sidebar. They cannot change the site-wide one.

Open Sidebar in the left menu, under Site. The screen looks like the page editor, with a sample page that has a sidebar. The heading says Sidebar, like the menu.
It works the same way as the page editor:
- Press Add and choose blocks. Only blocks that fit in a narrow column are offered.
- Select a block to move it, duplicate it, change its settings or delete it.
- Press Save draft to keep your work. Visitors do not see it.
- Press Publish to put it live. Every page that uses the site-wide sidebar changes at once.
- History lists every save. Preview looks at an old one and Restore makes it your draft. A restored version is not live until you publish.
The site-wide sidebar does not autosave. Use Save draft or Ctrl+S to keep your changes. If you leave with changes that are not kept, your browser will ask first.
Visitors see the sidebar only after you publish it. Pages whose layout has no sidebar, or that choose their own or none, do not show it.

- Put the things you want on many pages in the site-wide sidebar. Service times and a Plan a visit button are good choices.
- If you want one block both in the sidebar and in the body of a page, make it a shared block (see Editing pages).
